IVF

(In vitro fertilization)

It is one of the most common assisted reproductive technologies (ART), commonly known as "test-tube baby".

The treatment process includes:

● Egg retrieval

● Collection of sperm samples

● Fertilization of the eggs with sperm in the laboratory

● Transfer of the resulting embryos back into the uterus for implantation and development

ICSI

(Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection)

This involves using special microscope equipment:

● Precisely select a single sperm

● Penetrate the egg cell membrane with an extremely fine hollow needle.

● Injecting sperm directly into the cytoplasm of the egg.

This is one of the most commonly used fertilization methods in IVF cases. ICSI is provided as standard in the treatment at our partner clinics, without any additional charge.

Who is suitable to consider IVF/ICSI?

IVF/ICSI is often used to help the following groups improve their chances of getting pregnant:

● Older women with fertility difficulties

● Women with damaged or blocked fallopian tubes

● Women with endometriosis

● Men who are infertile due to low sperm count, poor sperm quality, or blocked vas deferens.

If you have been trying to conceive naturally or through intrauterine insemination (IUI) for some time without success, your doctor may recommend further evaluation of IVF/ICSI treatment.

Treatment duration overview (approximately 20 days)

If you choose to complete the ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval treatment in Georgia or Cyprus, the entire IVF process will take about 20 days to complete the main stages.
The standard treatment consists of five main steps:

Step

1

Medical Checking

(Approximately 10% complete)

Before starting IVF/ICSI, a series of medical examinations must be completed to ensure the safety of the procedure and to allow the doctor to design a treatment plan that suits the individual's condition.

For the female patients

Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B

HIV

Blood type

Coagulation function test

Cervical smear test

E2, PRG, PRP, RW

Thyroid function: TSH, FT4

Ovaries and reproductive hormones:

▪︎ FSH, LH, Estradiol (estradiol)

▪︎ PRL、DHEAS

▪︎ Free Testosterone

▪︎ 170OH Progesterone

Insulin

AMH (Anti-Müllerian hormone, used to assess ovarian reserve)

Chest ultrasound

vaginal ultrasound for monitoring follicles: Used to observe the number and size of follicles.

For the male patient

Infectious diseases Tests

Sperm Analysis Test

The test results should be recent reports, and it is generally recommended to complete them within 6 months.

Step

2

Stimulation

(Approximately 30% complete)

Ovarian stimulation therapy usually begins the day after menstruation begins.

The doctor will design a personalized medication plan based on the patient's age, ovarian reserve, and health status.

The patient (or egg recipient) will receive medication to help the ovaries produce multiple eggs under controlled conditions.

These medications are also used to increase the number of eggs that can be retrieved.

The overall pre-treatment and stimulation period is approximately 12–14 days.

Mostly injectable treatments

During ovarian stimulation, the clinic continuously monitors follicle and hormone changes:

Monitoring follicle growth and number using vaginal ultrasound scans

By checking estrogen levels through blood tests , we can understand the maturity of the eggs and adjust the medication dosage and treatment duration accordingly.

Step

3

Egg & Sperm Collection

(Approximately 50% complete)

Once the follicles have reached the appropriate maturity, an egg retrieval procedure will be scheduled.

The clinic will inform you of the day's schedule and time arrangements in advance.

And arranged for a driver to pick them up from the hotel and take them to the clinic.

Because the surgery will be performed under general anesthesia , the patient must completely abstain from food and water from midnight the day before.

Egg collection

It is usually performed under ultrasound guidance , and the surgery takes about 30 minutes.

The doctor will insert a thin needle through the vagina into the ovary to aspirate and collect the eggs from the follicles.

* In many cases, eggs can be retrieved via laparoscopy (a small telescope with a light). This procedure involves making a small incision in the abdomen and using a fine needle with a laparoscope to extract the eggs. The actual method will depend on the doctor's assessment and the standard operating procedures of the medical center.

Semen collection

Sperm samples are usually obtained on the same day or around the same time as egg retrieval and stored for a short period of time.

The laboratory's professional team will select the healthiest and most motile sperm for subsequent fertilization.

After the egg and sperm collection is completed, the clinic will explain to you:

Number of eggs successfully retrieved

Semen quality and sperm condition

Afterwards, you will rest at the clinic for a few hours until the anesthesia wears off and your condition stabilizes, at which point the driver will take you back to your hotel to rest.

Step

4

Fertilization

(Approximately 75% complete)

Once the egg and sperm are ready, the fertilization and embryo culture stage begins.

Sperm will be injected into the egg using ICSI microinjection technology :

▪︎ Use an extremely fine, hollow needle to pierce the egg cell membrane

▪︎ The needle contained only one sperm.

▪︎ Fertilization is achieved by injecting sperm into the cytoplasm of the oocytes.

ICSI method is provided freely at our clinic.

The clinic is equipped with a high-standard laboratory system and a professional team of embryologists to ensure that embryos develop in a safe and stable environment.

Embryo culture takes approximately 3–5 days from fertilization.

During this period, your dedicated coordinator will regularly update you on the developmental status and number of embryos.

Step

5

Embryo Transfer

(Progress approximately 100% complete)

Embryo implantation is usually scheduled for day 3–5 after fertilization; the specific date will be determined in consultation with your embryologist. In most cases, it is recommended that:

Wait until day 5, when the embryo is in the blastocyst stage, before transferring the embryo. Blastocyst implantation increases the success rate of implantation and reduces the risk of multiple pregnancies.

Embryo implantation is the final stage of the IVF process:

This is generally a minor outpatient procedure, almost painless and requiring no anesthesia.

The doctor will use a thin catheter to gently place the embryo into the uterine cavity through the cervix.

According to local laws and regulations, we can transfer 1–2 embryos to increase the chances of pregnancy while ensuring safety.

About 14 days after embryo transfer, a pregnancy test will be scheduled. If IVF is successful, the patient can then begin the regular obstetric monitoring and prenatal check-up process.

Success Rates & Key Factors

The success rate of IVF/ICSI varies depending on individual circumstances and is mainly affected by the following factors:

● Age

● Genetic background

● Quality of sperm and eggs

● Endometrium and overall reproductive health

▪︎ In surrogacy and egg donation procedures , the success rate is usually around 80 % .

▪︎ For surrogacy or IVF treatment using one's own eggs and sperm , the success rate varies significantly depending on individual circumstances.

We and our partner clinics will do everything in our power, within the bounds of legality, compliance, and medical expertise, to achieve the highest possible chance of pregnancy for you.
